early the next day, the adewales packed their belongings to prepare for their journey to the village. After packing their belongings. Mr Collins decided to take the keys of the buildings and cars earliest to the bank to prevent any form of e
mbarrassment from the bank.

Four hours later the adewales arrived at late mr Adewale anjorin bademi’s house at ekiti state, it was an ancient two bed room flat.

Collins and his family cleaned the house while they arranged there belongings, before he called for a family meeting.

“you are all welcome to my fathers house, this is the house he was living in before he died. This is where we will stay for the main time before I gather my self together” Collins said

“dad do you mean we are going to stay in this dirty and unpleasant environment” Shalewa said

“what do you mean Shalewa are human beings not living here” jimi fired

” its alright, I understand her feelings. Shalewa pls manage the environment at least you are through with high school, we can plan for your university so you can leave”

Cynthia kept quiet watching the drama. Two weeks later, the adewales had blend with the village life style, Cynthia was now a trader who sells food stuff at the village square, Collins who is now a taxi driver through the aid of his childhood friend. Jimi was enrolled into a government school close to their house, shalewa a jambite who refused to attend tutorial lesson to gain admission rather she prefer moving with corrupted village boys and girls.

Jaola said leaving the vicinity, while shalewa continued with her washing.

Cynthia was in her small shop at the market, busy selling food stuffs for her customers when her phone started ringing. Due to how busy she was she ignored the call, the phone was still ringing continuously when one of her customers told her to pick the call maybe it is an important one. She obeyed the customer and picked it when she heard a frightened voice saying “madam pls come immediately to ado ekiti general hospital you are needed urgently”………. TBC…….

Four hours later Collins got home and met his wife and son patiently waiting for him. He knows that they were actually waiting for him to give them feedback on his visit to Chief Odewale’s house but when Cynthia and Jimi saw Collins grumpy look, they could easily predict that the outcome wasn’t good at all.

“Honey welcome. What took you so long?” Asked Cynthia

“Welcome dad. How was it?” Asked Jimi

“The outcome is nothing to write home about but before I tell you guys anything please I will like to have water” said Collins

On hearing that, Jimi quickly rushed to the kitchen to get his dad water to drink. Cynthia also got up and also went to the kitchen to dish out food for Collins because she could tell that he was hungry.

Cynthia and Jimi waited patiently for Collins to finish eating before they started asking him series of questions.

Collins patiently explained the event of the day to Cynthia and Jimi without leaving a single details out and the two were really surprised to hear that Chief Odewale was diabolical and fetish in nature but they were also glad that Collins didn’t get tempted in accepting the offer.

“Honey am glad you didn’t accept the offer despite the fact that we are going through a hard time” said Cynthia

“No kind of hardship in life can make me go against my believe” said Collins assuring

Collins went further to say “I can’t believe people could be this wicked and heartless. People that didn’t even have money, I gave money, nobody comes to me asking for help without me helping them in any possible way I can but now, none of the people I helped could help me, the one who even want to help me wanted me to go against my believe. God why me?”

“Truly they said when you have money you will have friends but when you don’t have, you have no friend but all I know is that God is in control and he alone can see us through” said Cynthia

“You are right my dear and always remember that as long as there is life there is hope” said Collins

“Honey do you know that you are partly the cause of the problem we are facing right now?” Asked Cynthia

“Mum how is it dad’s fault?” Asked Jimi

“Honey please tell me how is it also my fault” said Collins

“It is your fault because if you had listen to me and kept some of your important document in the bank, those documents wouldn’t have got burnt in that fire” said Cynthia

“Is that why you say it also my fault?” Asked Collins

“I still have two other reasons to back up my claims” said Cynthia

“Let me hear the other two” said Collins

“If only you had listen to your manager and insured you company, then you would have been compensated but you refused to do it” said Cynthia

“And what is the last one?” Asked Collins

“If you had open a boutique for me or a pharmacy that is doing well maybe I would being able to help out in this situation but you refused claiming to be capable of taking care of the family” she said the last part in tears

“You are right but please let’s think of the way forward instead” said Collins

“Dad where are we going to live now since we will be leaving this house?” Asked Jimi

“My dear I think we will be moving back to the village for the main time and am really sorry that I won’t be able to give you the good life you deserve anymore” said Collins in tears

“Dad all that matters is that we are together, I don’t care where we stay” said Jimi

“Thanks for your understand son” said Collins

“You are welcome dad” said Collins

“I wonder how Shalewa is going to take the news” Cynthia blurted out

“I think we rather not think about how she is going to take the news for now” said Jimi

Episode 6
After the call, Collins turned to his wife and son and told them that Chief Odewale had requested that he come see him the next day. His wife and son were very happy thinking that Chief Odewale was the messiah they were looking for.

Cynthia excused herself from the living room to the kitchen so that she could prepare dinner for the whole family.

Immediately Cynthia left the living room, Jimi decided to help his mum in the kitchen so he excused himself too.

Cynthia prepared the dinner and everybody ate to their satisfaction except from Shalewa who had refused to eat because of what had happened earlier.

After the dinner, the Adewales watched a movie titled “sisters bond” before they all retired to sleep.

The next day Collins woke up before any member of his family. He quickly brushed his mouth and also had his shower before preparing to go see Chief Odewale.

It was a forty minutes ride from Collins’ house to the house of Chief Odewale.

Collins got to Chief Odewale’s house and the gateman just allowed him because he had been pre informed by Chief that he was expecting Collins that morning.

When Collins entered the living room, he met Chief Odewale reading a newspaper so he greeted him to gain his attention.

Chief Odewale offered Collins a seat and also requested for him to give him the full details of all that had happened to him for the past five months.

When Collins was through with his narration, Chief Odewale said “I have heard you and I promise to help but am not going to give you fish but instead am going to teach you how to fish”

“Either of them is fine by me because I can’t wait to stand back on my feet again” Said Collins

“Collins you will have to follow me to a place because that’s where the man who is going to help you reside” Said Chief Odewale

“No problem. Let’s go” said Collins

“Give me just two minutes to get my cars keys” said

“Okay sir” said Collins

After Chief Odewale left the living room, Collins started jubilating and thanking God for bringing him a saviour.

Chief Odewale came back to the living room, him and Collins left the compound to where chief Odewale is taking him too.

Three hours had passed and Chief Odewale was still driving, Collins couldn’t hide his fears again so he decided to speak out

“Chief where are you taking me to” he asked fearfully

“Relax Collins am only taking to where all your problems will be solved and we are almost there” Said Chief Odewale

Just then Chief Odewale pulled up in front of a house and by the look of the house, you easily predict that the house isn’t just a normal house anybody would come visiting.

They got into the compound and Collins began to see charms and other fetish things in the house.

“Where did you bring me to?” asked Collins

“To where all your problems will be solved” answered Chief Odewale

“You brought me to an herbalist place and you have the guts to tell me that you brought to a place where all my problems Will be solved?” Asked Collins

“Yes this place can solve all your problems, this place brought me power, fame, respect, wealth and honour and you too can have that of only you cooperate with me and follow me inside” said Chief Odewale

“Am following you nowhere” Fired Collins

“Why?” Asked Chief Odewale

“Am a child of God and what you want me to do is against my believe so am not going in” He said

“Where is this your God when your company caught fire?” Asked Chief Odewale

“The God I serve knows why he allowed that to happen” Defended Collins

“Oh really!?” Chief Odewale asked mockingly

“Yes really and I don’t even know why am still here am leaving” said Collins

“Wait Collins let me at least take you back home” said Chief Odewale

“Thanks chief but I don’t need your help anymore so am going to find my way back home myself” said Collins as he made to leave the compound…… TBC……

When Collins was done with his narration Shalewa said “Dad all these things you are busy explaining doesn’t in any way concern me because all I know is that you should go and find anything even if it means you stealing, kidnapping rich people’s kids or being a ritualist just to provide all my needs for me. Don’t use the excuse of your company caught fire to deny me of the good life which I live”

“What!!!” Came the reply of the rest of the family because they never expected to hear such a thing coming pnlout of Shalewa’s mouth.

Jimi was so mad at Shalewa for what she had said that he got up and gave her a resounding slap on her face.

“What! Jimi did you slap me?” Asked Shawela

“I did and i will do that again if you don’t keep your mouth shut” Fired Jimi

“Mum and dad you two are here when Jimi slapped me and you are not saying anything” Said Shalewa

“Shut up there my friend, You are even happy that Jimi was the one that slap you because if I was to be the person that did that am very sure you will be deaf by now” Fired Cynthia too

“Mum is that what you are saying?” Asked Shalewa

Collins who had been silence all these while decided to speak up

“Shalewa I never knew you were this senseless. People have been asking me if you are truly my daughter but right now I can’t help but to ask if truly you are my daughter too. I can’t say that your mum cheated on me,because I married her as a virgin but I think I and your mum will go back to the hospital where you were given birth to, to know if you were switched at childbirth or not and you Jimi thanks for the slap you gave Shalewa because I was already planning of doing that, but you were faster ” Said Collins

“Why are you all ganging up against me just because I made a statement which I was never serious with in the first place?” She asked trying to defend herself

“Me and you know that you were more than serious with your statement so don’t try to defend yourself here” said Collins

“Shalewa the sight of you right now disgust me so get out of here this very minute!” Said Cynthia

Shalewa quickly got up and made for her room since she was never really interested in the discussion.

When she was gone, Jimi turned to their and asked “Dad what do you plan on doing now”

“I don’t know honestly” said Collins hopelessly

“Dad I think there is a way out” Said Jimi

“What is the way out Jimi” Chorused both his parents

“Correct me if am wrong dad. I think they say one good turn deserve the order right dad?” Asked Jimi

“Yes you are right but what has that say got to do with the problem at hand?” Asked the dad

“Dad it has everything to do with it” Said Jimi

“How?” Asked Cynthia confusingly

“Dad I have seen lot of people who you had helped to become successful in life and each time they come visiting, they will always say “am still looking for a way to repay you for your kind gesture towards me and my family” and now I think this is the time for you to ask them for help , am sure they are going to help us since you have been nothing but good to them” said Jimi

“You are right son, I haven’t even thought about this till now. Let me put a call through to them. Jimi please pass me my phone which is on the dinning” said Collins

Jimi got up and went to the dinning to bring his dad’s phone to him. When Jimi brought the phone, Collins called some of his friends he had help but all of them sympathized with him but also told him that things were very hard with them so they can’t help him that moment.

Collins was about given up calling his friends to ask them for their help when his son told him to call Chief Odewale that he is very sure that man will help them. Collins put a call to him and luckily for him, Chief Odewale told him to come and see him in his house for him to help him out which put a smile on Collins’ face….. TBC…...

Collins told his gateman Okafor to open the gate for them to come in.

Five minutes later the two people Okafor said were looking for his boss came to the living room and Collins recognized them to be staffs of the bank where he had collected loan from and had used his two houses and all his cars as a collateral.

Collins Adewale didn’t need a soothsayer to tell him why the people were there but he was patiently waiting for them to drop the bombshell.

“Good Afternoon Mr Adewale” Said one of the bank staff

“Afternoon! To what do i own this visit?” He asked pretending not to know why they came

“Sir we were send here by Diamond bank management who told us to tell you that they are going to take over your properties since you failed to pay back the loan you promised to pay” Said by the same guy who greeted Collins

“I know, I promised to pay you the loan but like you all know, my company caught fire and I lost all my assets except my two houses and cars. Please am begging you guys to give me more grace to payback the loan” Collins said already close to tears

“Sir we have already given you more than enough grace, Isn’t three months enough grace?” Asked that same guy

“The grace is enough but I still need more grace because if you take the houses and the cars away from me, I will be left with nothing” Said Collins close to tears

“We understand what you are going through and we also feel your pains but in this situation, our hands are tight” Said the other guy.

“And sir we will like to take our leave since we have already delivered the message that brought us here” Said the first guy as he signal the second for them to leave the living room.

After the two guys that came had left, Cynthia turned to her husband with teary eyes

“Honey what are we going to do now” Asked Cynthia

“If I tell you that I know what we are going to do then am the biggest liar on planet earth” He said dejectedly

“God! Why did you allow these to happen to us when we have been nothing but faithful to you?” Asked Cynthia as she cried out in pain

“Honey please don’t question God because he is an unquestionable God. We don’t know why everything happened but who knows maybe one of us might be the one who was suppose to die but God allowed the company to caught fire instead” said Collins

“You are right Honey” Replied his wife

“Honey please wipe your tears and always remember that as long as there is life, there is also hope. God who gave all these wealth before will surely give us another one” Said Collins

“I hope so honey and honey are we still keeping this away from the kids?” Asked Cynthia

“No we can’t anymore. I think we have to tell them what’s on ground” Collins’ replied quickly

“When are we going to tell them?” Asked Cynthia

“When they come back from school, but I can’t help but imagine how our kids will feel” Said Collins

“I just hope they take the news lightly” Said Cynthia

“I hope that too” Said Collins as he made his way to leave the living room.

Four hours later Shalewa and Jimi came back from school and Jimi being a good observer could tell that everything was not okay with his parents so he decided to ask them what the problem was but they told him to go and change his uniform then have his lunch before they tell him what the problem is. Jimi said he will like to hear what the problem is before he have his lunch but his parents insisted on him having his lunch before they tell him what the problem is.

When Jimi and Shalewa came to the living room after they have had their lunch, their mum told them to sit, then their dad start to narrate everything that has been happening to them for the past five months. After he was through with his narration, Shalewa said something which made the rest of the family to gasp in disbelief….. TBC…..

Immediately Cynthia Adewale and Ben heard that they were now able to go see Collins, they quickly rushed to the ward where he was admitted in.

Immediately Collins saw his wife and his manager inside his ward, he burst out in tears saying “What crime have I ever committed for my office to get burnt mysteriously? All my hard work of twenty years is all gone in a twinkle of a eye. Where will I start from?”(Mr Collins lamented)

On hearing that, the manager decided to speak up.

“Sir you can start by asking your insurance to compensate you since this is a fire incident” Ben said

“I didn’t insured my company” Came the reply of Collins

“What!” Both Ben and Cynthia exclaimed

“Sir I thought you told me you were going to insure you company after I talked to you five years ago?” Asked Ben

“Yes I only said that just to get you off my back” Replied Collins

“Sir why were you even against insuring your company?” Asked Ben

“I was against it because I never thought something like this would ever happen” Replied Collins

“Honey in life when we are planning of the good we are also suppose to be planning for the worst because in life none of us pray for bad things to happens but bad things do happen each passing day” Said his wife

“I have realize my mistake now but I can’t turn back the hands of time to go and insure my company” He said regrettably

“You are right sir we all can’t change the hands of time and all we need to do now is to think of a way forward” Said Ben

“When will I he discharge” Asked Collins

(Collins asked that question because he hated hospitals with passion)

Cynthia was about to answer her husband when the door to the ward was opened by the doctor

“Good Evening sir! How are you feeling now?” Asked the doctor with a charming smile on his face

“Doctor am fine and when will I be discharge?” Asked Collins

“Sir we will have to run some check up on you and if you are okay then you will be discharged tomorrow but if not then you are still going to spend few more days in the hospital” Said the doctor

“Please do that fast because I hate hospitals with passion but I hope no offence was taking by you?” Asked Collins

“None taking sir” Came the response of the doctor before he excused himself

The next day Collins was discharge from the hospital since he was fit to leave.

When they got home, Collins told his wife to promised him that they were going to keep the fire incidence from their children so that it won’t affect their studies which at first she didn’t buy the idea of hiding something that big from the kids but after Collins gave her enough reasons why they need to keep it away from the kids, she later gave in.

Five Months later

Collins and his wife were sitting in the living room discussing on the kind of small business they will be able to start up with the little money they had when their gateman came to inform Collins them that two people were looking for him and they are at the gate

Collins got inside his car and his driver started the car engine.

When they were half way close to his office, his driver stopped.

“Why did you stop the car” Asked Mr Collins Adewale

“Sir i think one of the tyre is faulty that’s why I stopped the car” answered kunle the driver

“If one of the tyres is truly faulty that means the tyre needs to be changed right?” Asked Mr Collins

“Yes sir the tyre need to be changed” Came the reply of the driver

“Hope there is a spare tyre in the booth?” Asked Mr Collins

(Mr Collins asked that question because he knows that kunle never remembers to keep a spare tyre in the booth)

The driver knowing why his boss asked that question smiled before answering his boss “Sir there is a spare tyre in the booth”

“Please hurry up and change the tyre because I don’t want to be late today, I have a lot of things i want to do in the office”

On hearing that, the driver quickly got down from the car and hurriedly went to open the booth of the car to bring out the spare tyre so that he will be able to fixed the faulty tyre on time. If there is one thing the driver has gotten to know about Mr Collins is that “he hates being late to work”.

It took the driver thirty minutes to fix the tyre and after he was done, he quickly got into the car and hurriedly drove Collins to the office but when they got close to the office, they notice that there was a huge gathering in the front of his office so Mr Collins quickly got down from the car to go and find out what the gathering was all about but when he got close enough, he met the shocker of his life.

What Mr Collins saw was self explanatory so he doesn’t need a soothsayer to tell him that his office was on fire.

Mr Collins quickly search for his manager to ask him if they were able to save his important document but when he found him, the manager told him that “even a single pen was not save because inside the office was burnt beyond recognition and the cause of the fire still remain a misery to them” out of shock Mr Collins Adewale collapsed.

His manager and some of his employees quickly rushed him to the nearest hospital close to the office.

The manager who has the phone number of his wife called her to inform her of the bad news.

Mrs Adewale was in the living room watching a comedy show when her phone started ringing. She checked who the caller was and when she saw that the caller was her husband’s manager, she decided to pick the call

“Hello Ben” said Mrs Collins

“Hello madam please you have to come to Konami specialist hospital right now” said the manager

“What happened?(mrs Adewale yelled out) Why do I have to come to that hospital.

“Madam your husband is admitted here right now that’s why you need to come to the hospital” replied Ben

“My husband who was very healthy before leaving the house this morning now being admitted in the hospital. How is that possible?” Asked Cynthia

Ben went ahead to explain everything to her over the phone.

Mrs Adewale after receiving the call rushed to pick her car keys before driving out of the house to the hospital.

Twenty minutes later, she got to the hospital and quickly for her, when she entered the reception she meant the doctor who attended to her husband and the told her that her husband only suffered from a shock and he will be okay.

he told her to wait in the reception while he go and check on his other patient before leaving the reception.

After Cynthia saw that the doctor has left, she went to where Mr Ben was sitting to ask him how the fire incident started but Mr Ben said “he didn’t know because he only came to the office this morning and met it on fire”.

After that, none of them said a word to the other because the two of them were in deep thought.

Four hours later the doctor came to inform them that Mr Collins is awake and they can now go in and see him…… TBC…..

Mr and Mrs Adewale has been happily married for the past eighteen years nd they were also blessed with two kids which are a boy and a girl.

Life has been very fair to them because Mr Collins Adewale has been the most successful importer and exporter in Nigeria and his life as a married man has also been very good to him. His wife is a devoted Christian, and she has been nothing but loyal, obedient and respectful to him, they have never really gotten to a real fight ever since they got married eighteen years ago except for the fight they have had over him not allowing her to work. Collins has always said that he is capable of taking good care of his family and truly he can, so there is no need for his beautiful wife to be stressing herself and he also said that “he knows how bossy some boss could be and he doesn’t want his wife to be boss around by anyone” but his wife has always said “Honey if you don’t want me to work under somebody then why can’t I work under you or better still you open a self employed business for me?”

When Cynthia noticed that her ambition for her to work has hindering the peace in her home, she decided to forget about her ever working.

Their daughter Shalewa has always have a life of a princess. She has a life all pears admired and envy but there is one thing Shalewa hate about her parents and that’s the fact that they had refused to give her an English name despise all her pleas. She sees Shalewa as a local name and a name that doesn’t suit her status has a daughter of a milti-billionaire and in school, she has been bullying most of her classmates who are not as rich as her and even demand that some student should removed their school uniforms to clean her sit for her and nobody dares report her to the school authority because they were all afraid of her .
